Overview
About the Xiaomi SkyNomad N70
The SkyNomad N70 is not a battery-electric vehicle: it is an extended-range electric SUV (EREV) from SkyNomad, the new SUV series of Xiaomi Auto, which also builds the SU7 and YU7. The wheels are always driven by electric motors, while a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine (112 kW, made by Dongan) only generates electricity once the battery runs low. Two versions went on sale in China on September 7, 2026. The N70 Pro uses a 52 kWh LFP pack, a single 210 kW rear motor and is rated at 351 km of electric range (CLTC) and 1,351 km in total. The N70 Max gets a 76 kWh NMC pack, dual-motor AWD with 310 kW, 0-100 km/h in 5.5 s and 505 km electric / 1,461 km total (CLTC — expect much less in a Canadian winter). At 4,960 mm long with a 2,950 mm wheelbase, it seats five, with a 1,203 L cargo area that grows to 2,425 L. Front seats rotate 180°, a 9 L fridge and a 21.4-inch rear screen are part of the package. Xiaomi has announced nothing for Canada: this page is for information only.
Editorial take
Our Verdict
Strengths
- EREV formula: 505 km on electricity (CLTC, Max), then the petrol generator takes over — no range anxiety on long trips
- Huge cargo for a 5-seater: 1,203 L, up to 2,425 L
- 209,900 CNY in China for a 4.96 m SUV with two LiDARs, HUD, fridge and rotating front seats
Watch Out For
- Not announced for Canada — Xiaomi has no Canadian sales plan for SkyNomad
- Burns gasoline once the battery is empty — not a zero-emission vehicle
- Heavy (2,453-2,610 kg per MIIT filings) and a 400 V platform: Xiaomi does not publish its DC charging power

Up to $1,000 for a plug-in hybrid, only if registered by Dec. 31, 2026
China-built EVs are not eligible for the federal rebate (EVAP, up to $5,000 in 2026), which is reserved for vehicles built in Canada or in a country that has a free-trade agreement with Canada. Quebec's Roulez vert pays up to $1,000 for a plug-in hybrid, with no country-of-origin restriction, but only for a vehicle on the program's eligible list and registered by December 31, 2026, when the program ends. Until the Xiaomi SkyNomad N70 is on sale in Canada, nothing guarantees it will qualify.

Electric range
Electric-only range
The Xiaomi SkyNomad N70 covers about 505 km in electric mode on the CLTC cycle, after which its petrol engine takes over. That figure is not comparable to the range of a battery-electric vehicle, and it drops in deep cold.

What this means for Canada
SkyNomad is sold in China only and Xiaomi has announced no Canadian plan. CLTC figures are generous: in Canadian winter, the electric range will be well below 505 km, and the petrol range extender will run more often. Torque and DC charging power have not been published by Xiaomi.

Equipment compared
Price and range only tell half the story. Here is the equipment, line by line, against the rival you would actually cross-shop.
| Equipment | Xiaomi SkyNomad N70not sold here yet | Tesla Model Y Standard Rangesold in Canada |
|---|---|---|
| Heated seats | Front + rear | First and second row |
| Ventilated seats | Yes | not published |
| Heated steering wheel | not published | Yes |

| Power tailgate | not published | Yes |
| Max AC charging | not published | 7.7 kW |
| Architecture | 400 V | not published |
The two columns do not rest on the same footing. The rival is described from its Canadian specification; the Chinese vehicle from the market where it is actually sold today. Any future Canadian version could differ.
Tesla Model Y Standard Range — These figures describe the Rear-Wheel Drive, the version this page covers. The Premium All-Wheel Drive at $64,990 adds 15-speaker audio with a subwoofer, ventilated front seats and 11.5 kW AC charging. Separately, Tesla publishes unusually little equipment detail in Canada: a heat pump, Apple CarPlay, front trunk volume and pack architecture appear nowhere on tesla.com/en_CA — for the heat pump that is a documentation gap, not a missing part, so read those cells as unknown rather than absent. What Tesla does confirm: NACS charging with a J1772 adapter included, and Full Self-Driving (Supervised) as an $11,000 option or $99 a month.
"Not published" means the manufacturer does not document this — not that the vehicle lacks it.
