The Chery Story

Founded in 1997 in Wuhu by a group of former government officials, Chery grew from a state-backed manufacturer into China's most successful auto exporter. Chery was the first Chinese automaker to export vehicles in 2001, and has since built assembly plants in Brazil, Russia, and South-East Asia. In 2023, Chery launched two new sub-brands for global markets: Omoda (urban lifestyle crossovers) and Jaecoo (rugged adventure SUVs). The Omoda E5 is their first fully electric model designed for Western markets, featuring a modern design language, dual 10.25" screens, and competitive specs.
