Jaecoo Canada

Rugged Electric Adventure

Jaecoo is Chery's adventure-styled SUV sub-brand, launched globally in 2023 alongside sister brand Omoda. Where Omoda targets urban lifestyle buyers, Jaecoo leans into rugged, off-road-inspired design — backed by Chery's manufacturing scale as China's largest vehicle exporter.

The Jaecoo Story

Chery created Jaecoo as a distinct global brand in 2023 to compete in the adventure-SUV segment without diluting Chery's own mainstream identity — the same playbook that produced Omoda for urban crossovers. For Canada, Jaecoo's first electric entry is the J5 EV: a 59 kWh NMC battery delivering 400 km of WLTP range (roughly 300 km in Canadian winter conditions), a 150 kW (204 hp) motor good for a 0-100 km/h time of 8.2 seconds, and a 412-litre trunk. DC fast charging tops out at 130 kW, enough for a 30-80% top-up in about 28 minutes.

Jaecoo in Canada

At an estimated $35,000 CAD ($33,000 in Quebec after the Roulez vert incentive — Jaecoo, being Chinese-built, is not eligible for the federal EVAP rebate), the J5 EV undercuts the Subaru Solterra by nearly $18,000. Its rugged styling and 412 L trunk target the same buyer as compact adventure SUVs, but no Canadian launch date or dealer network has been confirmed yet — this remains a product without a go-to-market plan in Canada so far.
