Chinese EVs in Ottawa
Ottawa is a city of 1M in Ontario, Canada. Chinese electric vehicles from brands like BYD, Zeekr, Chery, NIO, XPeng, and Lotus are entering the Canadian market following Canada's tariff reduction from 100% to 6.1% (in-quota), effective March 1, 2026.
With a quota of 49,000 vehicles per year at 6.1%, Chinese EVs are now available in Canada. Prices listed represent current Canadian MSRP estimates. Ontario does not currently offer a provincial EV incentive for Chinese-made vehicles.
In winter, expect approximately 25% range reduction at -20°C. All Chinese EVs listed use LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) or NMC battery chemistry, both proven to perform well in Canadian winters with proper preconditioning.
