Overview

About the Lotus Eletre

The Lotus Eletre is the most radical reinvention in the brand's 76-year history: a 2.5-tonne electric hyper-SUV from the company that built its name on featherweight sports cars. The flagship R version develops a staggering 675 kW (905 hp), launching to 100 km/h in 2.95 seconds — supercar numbers in a five-seat family silhouette. A 112 kWh battery delivers up to 600 km of WLTP range, and the 800-volt architecture accepts 350 kW charging, among the fastest of any production car. Built in Wuhan under Geely ownership but engineered with Lotus dynamics DNA, the Eletre handles unlike any SUV this size. The catch is equally dramatic: at $119,900+ CAD it competes with the Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid and BMW iX M60, energy consumption is substantial, and Lotus's Canadian dealer network is tiny. This is a halo car — proof that a Chinese-owned brand can play at the very top of the market.

Editorial take

Our Verdict

Strengths

  • 905 hp and 2.95 s to 100 km/h — genuine supercar performance in an SUV
  • 800V architecture with 350 kW charging, among the industry's fastest
  • Lotus chassis tuning makes it handle unlike any 2.5-tonne SUV

Watch Out For

  • $119,900+ with zero incentives — Cayenne Turbo money
  • Heavy consumption; winter range will dip well below 500 km
  • Tiny Lotus dealer and service network in Canada

What this means for Canada

Lotus renamed the entire Eletre range for the 2026 model year — the old Eletre, Eletre S and Eletre R names are obsolete, so any Canadian pricing quoted against them is out of date. Note one inconsistency in Lotus's own material: the specification sheet lists front heating, ventilation and massage as vehicle equipment, while the trim breakdown attributes ventilation and massage to the 600 Sport SE and above — confirm with a dealer before assuming the base 600 has them. Vehicle-to-load, a 360° camera and a power tailgate are not confirmed on any official Lotus sheet, so we do not list them.
